Education: Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, Ohio; Ph.D. from University of Innsbruck, Austria; theology studies at Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome with residence at Pontifical North American College; also studies at Sorbonne, Paris, and the University of Florence, Italy; Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, Rome, the Holy See’s school for diplomats; earned canon law degree at the Lateran University, Rome.

Ordained: December 19, 1969, at Saint Peter’s Basilica, by Bishop James A. Hickey

Episcopal Appointment: Appointed fourth Bishop of Greensburg, January 2, 2004, by Pope John Paul II. Ordained and installed March 4, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.

Retirement: Retirement accepted by Pope Francis, April 24, 2015, with the appointment of Bishop Edward C. Malesic; served as administrator of the Diocese until the ordination and installation of Bishop Malesic July 13, 2015, becoming Bishop Emeritus that day.
