Catholic Accent honored with Media Excellence Award for mental health coverage

IRWIN – The Catholic Accent was honored with the 2023 Media Excellence Award by Mental Health America of Southwestern PA as an ‘Innovator’  for its coverage of mental health and substance use disorder treatment services.  Bishop Larry J. Kulick, publisher of the Catholic Accent, accepted the award at the 21st Annual Innovations Awards Ceremony at Antonelli Event Center in Irwin.

The Catholic Accent newspaper, magazine, television show and online news site  was honored for it’s  unique opportunity to reach 135,000 parishioners in the Diocese of Greensburg and beyond, sparking an interest in the link between mental and spiritual health.

In accepting the award. Bishop Kulick recognized the importance of well-developed content and creative presentation. “My hope is that we continue to better engage the faith community about the importance of mentally and spiritually comforting those in need, including the hospitalized and homebound, and the impact of that ministry on physical healing.”
