GREENSBURG – On the heels of a successful men’s conference, THE WELL: Be Not Afraid, the Men’s Ministry Team of the Diocese of Greensburg is planning a prayer gathering for men across the four counties of the Diocese.
Transformation: A Men’s Prayer Gathering will take place on Monday, May 1, from 6:45-9 p.m. at St. Vincent Basilica Parish downstairs in the Crypt.
Jarod Trunzo, a member of the Diocesan Men’s Ministry Team, is organizing the prayer gathering. Trunzo says it is intentionally designed for anyone, no matter where they are on their faith journey.
“We have gotten young adults to much older adults, although at a number of them I will say that we have gotten a good number of younger to middle-aged fathers who have kids and who are pulled in a lot of directions, and the two-hour window helps in that regard,” Trunzo said.
“It’s almost like a free condensed retreat that provides a great opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals in the small group discussion portion.”
Trunzo says the idea came in 2017 from a group of men who were praying about developing programs for men.
“We shared it with others and everyone got on board; then the Bishop and Archabbot at the time gave the green light, and it grew from there really collectively with a number of helpers along the way who kept improving it and making it a special thing”, Trunzo said.
They held the prayer gatherings in the Crypt and branched out to parishes in Kittanning, Greensburg and Crabtree. However, the prayer gatherings were put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trunzo is hoping this restart will lead to more prayer gatherings and, moving forward, expand to other parishes.
