 “Comfort Care Choices” co-presented by Shari Taylor, MSW, of Heartland/ Promedica Hospice and by Nancy Matteuzzi, MA, BCC, of Mother of Sorrows Parish.

Shari Taylor holds a master’s degree in social work as well as a certification in grief counseling.  She has been employed as a social worker with Heartland Hospice for 20 years. She will be discussing hospice philosophy of care, hospice myths, and the various choices available. 

Co-Presenter, Nancy Matteuzzi, works as a pastoral associate for spiritual care at Mother of Sorrows parish in Murrysville. She holds master’s degrees in pastoral ministry and in sociology, and is board certified as a professional chaplain through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.  She will briefly address the emotional toll these decisions can take and how Catholic theology can offer guidance and comfort.

Boomers and Beyond is a ministry serving the “baby boomers” and all adults of Mother of Sorrows parish and the surrounding communities.  Lunch and Learn sessions are held on the second Tuesday of each month, in the Mother of Sorrows social hall.  Topics are varied, reservations are not required, and sessions are free to all interested adults. Participants gather at 11:30am and are encouraged to bring a “brown bag” lunch and to bring a friend.  Beverages are provided.  Presentations follow, from 12:00-1:00pm.
