
Father John A. Moineau, 64, Priest in the Diocese of Greensburg for 38 years

Reverend John A. Moineau died at home, Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the presence of friends and family. He was 64 years old having been a Roman Catholic Priest serving the Diocese of Greensburg for 38 years as Parochial Vicar and Pastor.
He was born on June 19, 1961, and graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1979 and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983. He did his Priestly formation at Mount Saint Mary’s in Emmitsburg, MD, and was ordained May 2, 1987 by Bishop William G. Connare at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg.
Father John was preceded in death by his parents Robert J. and Joan (Busch) Moineau; his godparents Kenneth and Marcia Bearer; his Uncles Rev. Vernon Busch OFM Cap., Charles Busch and Karl Thurber; and his cousin Lloyd Thurber. He is survived by two sisters Clare and Gail Moineau; a brother Robert J. Moineau Jr.; along with two Aunts Mildred Thurber and Judith Busch. He was also survived by his best friends of 38 years Ray and Kathy Takacs, their children Kate, Tom, Tim and Stacy and their ten grandchildren.
Family, friends and parishioner’s will be received from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday October 29, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 308 Second St., Irwin. The Vigil for the deceased will be held from 6:00 to 6:30p.m. All are encouraged to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30. Private interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be offered to St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Agnes Chapter, or the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin, is handling arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.
