GREENSBURG – JULY 2, 2022 – The Diocese of Greensburg has granted permission to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish to raze the former Holy Rosary School in Republic. The school building has sustained significant damage due to a failing roof. The razing of the school building will be a benefit to the local community, as the building has become a nuisance and has fallen victim to vandalism in recent years.
The Diocese of a Greensburg is assisting the parish with this endeavor in a number of ways. Firstly, to ensure that this effort is not a financial burden on parish resources, the Diocese is taking the majority of the financial responsibility for the demolition. Additionally, the Diocese is coordinating and overseeing the process of demolition.
The convent, rectory and church building will not be impacted by this process.
