Many opportunities planned for the faithful during Jubilee Year

GREENSBURG –There will be many opportunities for the faithful in the Diocese of Greensburg during the Jubilee Year of Hope, “Pilgrims of Hope,” according to Vincent Reilly, Managing Director for Faith, Family and Discipleship.

“We will keep our parishes open more often, with opportunities for reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Hours and many other various events throughout the year to recognize the people and the groups who make the Diocese of Greensburg a special place to celebrate all of the gifts God has blessed us with,” Reilly said.

During Lent, Bishop Larry J. Kulick will lead a pilgrimage to Rome as part of the Jubilee celebration. According to Reilly, Bishop Kulick plans to take the faithful from the Diocese along with him virtually, sharing spiritual reflections during the trip. Reilly says the pilgrimage will be a way for the faithful to reconnect with Jesus.

“Pope Francis is calling us to come back to the basics of our faith,” Reilly said. “He is calling us to to reorient ourselves to the important things of our faith like Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, devotions, all of the things that make Catholics Catholic.”

During the Jubilee Year, pilgrims will visit the Mother Church of the Diocese, Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.

“For every Diocese, the core connection with the Apostles is the Bishop, and the Bishop is represented by his Cathedral,” Reilly said. “By bringing people to the Cathedral, you are connecting everyone to the Apostolic core of our faith, back to Jesus Himself.”

The 2025 Jubilee Year falls in the middle of Bishop Kulick’s three-year dedication of the Diocese to St. Joseph, the foster father of Christ, as guardian and protector. When the Jubilee Year comes to a close next year, the Diocese will begin the celebration of its 75th anniversary. Reilly hopes that the spiritual renewal from the Jubilee Year and the diamond anniversary will bring a new vibrancy to parishes, encouraging the faithful to become missionary disciples in their parishes and in their local communities.

“When Catholics are connected with their faith, when we are connected with Christ, we do wonderful things for the world around us, making Fayette, Westmoreland, Indiana and Armstrong counties great places to live, worship, work, and belong, which is Bishop’s goal as well,” Reilly said.
