KITTANNING – Bishop Larry J. Kulick will celebrate Mass and dedicate the Diocese of Greensburg the newest Vocations Chapel Aug. 14, the vigil of the Feast of the Assumption, at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. It will be the fourth vocations chapel in the Diocese; after its dedication, all four counties of the Diocese will have a vocations chapel.
Bishop Emeritus Lawrence E. Brandt will take part in the Mass and dedication. During his episcopacy, Bishop Brandt called for the creation of the chapels to encourage the faithful of the Diocese to pray for vocations. The other chapels are at Holy Family Parish, Latrobe; St. Therese, Little Flower of Jesus Parish, Uniontown, and St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana.
The parishes of Armstrong County have played a role in the vocations journeys of many priests in the Diocese, including Father Eric J. Dinga, Pastor of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, and the partner parishes of Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City, and St. Lawrence Parish, Cadogan, as well as St. Mary, Mother of God Parish, Freeport; Father Tyler J. Bandura, Pastor of St. James Parish, New Alexandria; Father Andrew J. Hamilton, Parochial Vicar of the Roman Catholic Churches of Southern Fayette County; and Father James F. Petrovsky, now retired
Following the Mass and dedication, there will be a “Hearts for the Mission” party at the parish to honor current seminarians, including Eli Halutick, whose home parish is Christ, Prince of Peace Parish. Halutick begins the Propaedeutic Stage in his formation for the priesthood this fall at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood.
