Prayer and Perfect Pairings to benefit Catholic Charities

GREENSBURG – The Diocese of Greensburg is announcing this year’s Priest Chefs for Prayer and Perfect Pairings, an annual wine paring event featuring a five-course meal prepared from the recipes of our Priest Chefs.

This year’s Prayer and Perfect Pairings dinner will feature an Italian-themed meal. The dinner will be held at Christ Our Shepherd Center on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. Proceeds from Prayer and Perfect Pairings benefit Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg.

Our Priest Chefs, Bishop Larry J. Kulick, Father Andrew J. Hamilton, Father Christopher J. Pujol, Father John Torres and Father Daniel E. Carr, have selected and will create the recipes that will be served at each course for the evening.

Bishop Kulick will share his recipe for sausage-stuffed hot peppers. When Bishop Kulick makes this recipe, he uses peppers from his garden.

Father Hamilton, Parochial Vicar for the Roman Catholic Churches of Southern Fayette County, will invite his mother into the kitchen to prepare the salad course.

Father Pujol, Parochial Vicar at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish, Greensburg, Episcopal Master of Ceremonies and Co-Director of the Office of Worship, will showcase his recipe for chicken saltimbocca. For his recipe, he will rely on culinary input from Monsignor Raymond E. Riffle, Vicar General and Rector of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish.

Newly ordained priest Father Torres, Parochial Vicar at the parishes of the Yough Catholic Community, the partner parishes of St. Pius and Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mount Pleasant, and the partner parishes of St. John the Baptist, Scottdale, and St. Joseph Parish, Everson, makes his first appearance as a Priest Chef with a recipe for manicotti.

Father Carr, pastor of St. Regis Parish, Trafford, and Director of Ministry Formation for the Diocese, will join his mother in the kitchen to make cannoli to finish off the five-course dinner.

Prayer and Perfect Pairings begins at 6 p.m. with a prayer service led by Bishop Kulick. The prayer service is followed by a program featuring videos of each priest making their dishes and how proceeds raised from the event impact the critical services provided by Catholic Charities in the Diocese.
