GREENSBURG – Bishop Larry J. Kulick of the Diocese of Greensburg is inviting the faithful to take part in a Prayer Vigil for Peace on Saturday, April 11, joining a worldwide call for prayer initiated by Pope Leo XIV on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The Prayer Vigil for Peace will occur in Greensburg at the same time it is occurring in Rome with the Holy Father.
The Prayer Vigil for Peace will be held at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will include the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic Adoration. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, which is regularly scheduled during this time, will be available as usual. The vigil will conclude with prayer and Benediction.
“As we celebrate the glory of the Resurrection during these days when our world is marked by division, conflict, and uncertainty, the Church turns with renewed urgency to the Risen Lord, who alone is our peace,” Bishop Kulick said.
The local vigil is intended to express solidarity with Pope Leo XIV and the global Catholic community, while also offering individuals different ways to participate. Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to pray at their local parish, participate virtually in the Vatican vigil, or set aside personal time for prayer or fasting.
“As one Body in Christ, let us entrust our world to the Prince of Peace, confident that the Lord hears the cry of His people and desires to heal every wound and restore unity among His children,” Bishop Kulick said.
Bishop Kulick’s Statement to Faithful:
As we celebrate the glory of the Resurrection during these days when our world is marked by division, conflict, and uncertainty, the Church turns with renewed urgency to the Risen Lord, who alone is our peace.
In response to the invitation of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, I invite the faithful of Greensburg to join with the universal Church to join together in a Prayer Vigil for Peace on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
The Holy Father has called the faithful throughout the world to unite in prayer for peace at 6:00PM Rome time. In solidarity with him, I will offer a Prayer Vigil for Peace at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, gathering our diocesan Church in prayer before the Lord.
The schedule for our local celebration is:
– 11:00AM – Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Adoration
Sacrament of Reconciliation (as regularly scheduled at the Cathedral)
– 12:00PM – Prayer for Peace and Benediction
I encourage all the faithful to take part in this moment of grace in whatever way is possible. You are invited to join me at the Cathedral, participate virtually in the Holy Father’s vigil, pray in your local parish, or spend time personally in prayer and fasting.
As one Body in Christ, let us entrust our world to the Prince of Peace, confident that the Lord hears the cry of His people and desires to heal every wound and restore unity among His children.
