GREENSBURG – On Friday, April 24, the Office of Faith, Family & Discipleship will be hosting a Walking with Moms in Need gathering in the Westmoreland Room at the Christ Our Shepherd Center in Greensburg from 9 00 am to noon.
Six years ago, on the 25th Anniversary of the promulgation of Pope Saint John Paul II encyclical Evangelium vitae (The Gospel of Life), the U.S. Catholic Bishops Committee on Pro-Life Activities launched the Walking with Moms in Need nationwide effort to assist and support women facing difficult or unexpected pregnancies, while also providing resources for young families in need.
Regarding the Walking with Moms in Need effort in our own diocese, Bishop Kulick, in his pastoral letter Donum Vitae The Gift of Life, states that this,”…initiative has begun in our Diocese and is a ministry of which I am very proud and remain committed to in the future.”
As was done at this event in previous years, parishes having active Walking with Moms in Need ministries will be able to share information with each other, while also, providing ideas, materials and resources to those parishes seeking to get one started. All parishes are welcome and encouraged to send representatives!
As an added feature this year, representatives of area Pregnancy Resource Centers will also be invited so that they can share their experience and expertise with us so that we might learn how to be most effective in helping them, help Moms in Need.
Register now by emailing your RSVP to Deacon William Newhouse here.
