The first issue of The Catholic Accent was published on June 1, 1961.
The Catholic Accent is mailed directly to the homes of over 41,000 parishioners in the four counties of the diocese (Armstrong, Fayette, Indiana and Westmoreland).
For more than 60 years, The Catholic Accent has won multiple awards for excellence in reporting in the Catholic media.

Cliff Gorski
- Chief Communications Officer/Managing Director, Office of Communications/ Executive Editor of the Catholic Accent-
Cliff joined the diocesan staff in November of 2021 after serving as Director of Communications and Advocacy for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation for 14 years. He serves as executive Editor for the Catholic Accent, creating content for the Diocese across the website and social media channels. Cliff is a parishioner at St. Sebastian Parish, Belle Vernon.

John Zylka
- Director of Creative Services -
John joined the diocesan staff in 2018 and serves as Director of Creative Services. He oversees the design and production of all visual communications for the Diocese of Greensburg and The Catholic Accent, including print materials, branding, and digital content. With a strong background in both design and storytelling, John ensures that every visual element reflects the mission and identity of the diocese. Prior to joining the diocesan team, he worked as a communications designer and videographer for Excela Health for more than three years. John is a member of Valley Brethren Church in Jones Mills.

Jordan Whiteko
- Director of Marketing & Video Production -
Jordan joined the diocesan staff in 2018 as Multimedia Content Manager and now serves as Director of Marketing & Video Production. In this role, he leads the development and execution of multimedia marketing strategies for The Catholic Accent and the Diocese of Greensburg. He oversees video production, photography, and digital content creation, helping shape the diocese’s visual and brand identity across platforms. Prior to his diocesan work, Jordan contributed to major film productions like The Dark Knight Rises and served as senior production coordinator at VITAC, a leading captioning company. He is a parishioner of St. Sebastian Parish in Belle Vernon.

Sarah Hartner
- Multimedia Content Coordinator -
Sarah started with the Diocese of Greensburg as a communications intern and, as of June 2025, now serves as Multimedia Content Coordinator. She graduated from Saint Vincent College with a degree in Digital Art and Media, concentrating in Graphic Design, and minors in Theology and Marketing. In her current role, Sarah supports multimedia content creation to help share the diocese’s stories across various platforms.

Beth Tallentire
- Office Coordinator -
Beth joined the diocesan staff in 2015. She serves as an administrative assistant for the staff of the Office of Communications and Evangelization, oversees advertising for The Catholic Accent and manages the circulation database. She has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. Beth is a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Scottdale.

Valerie Rodell
- Production Coordinator -
Val is responsible for designing pages and editing. She has more than 20 years of experience in journalism and communications, having previously worked in a full-time staff position for The Catholic Accent and the Tribune-Review in Greensburg. Val serves as a church organist and is a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Youngstown.

Nancy Balfe
- Proofreader -
Nancy joined the diocese in 2000 and has served in the former stewardship department, at Catholic Charities and with The Catholic Accent. She now works part time as a proofreader and office assistant. Nancy is a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish, Irwin.
