His Excellency, The Most Reverend Larry J. Kulick, JCL, Bishop of Greensburg, has made the following announcement:
Effective Tuesday, October 6, 2026
Dismissal from the Clerical State:
Effective Tuesday, October 6, 2026, His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, has granted the requested petition for dismissal from the clerical state and the obligations of sacred orders including celibacy for Emil S. Payer. With this dispensation, Emil Payer is unable to exercise any priestly ministry or to represent himself as a priest in any public or private manner, with the exception of those provisions set forth in Canons 976 and 986, §2 of the Code of Canon Law. Emil Payer will reside in private residence.
Bishop Kulick reminds the faithful that any correspondence or requests received from Emil Payer are not from a representative of the clerical state, the Diocese of Greensburg, or the Universal Church.
