(GREENSBURG, Pa., – March 2, 2022) The Diocesan Chapter and the Manordale Council of the Knights of Columbus invite the faithful of the Diocese of Greensburg to be part of a worldwide effort to celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer and Protector of the Church.
Knights councils across the Diocese, along with Monsignor Michael J. Begolly, pastor of Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville, will host a special liturgy March 19 at the church. As part of the celebration, the St. Joseph Pilgrimage icon, which is traveling throughout dioceses in Western Pennsylvania, will be on display in the church.
Don Granata, a member of the Knights of Columbus Manordale Council is coordinating participation in the with other Diocesan councils.
“Monsignor Michael Begolly thought this was a wonderful idea to have a festive Mass,” Granata said, noting that he is hoping for a large turnout. “We really want this to be a Diocesan event.”
The special liturgy is part of a national Act of Consecration to St. Joseph by the Knights of Columbus as they lead the faith community with examples of virtue, prudence and fatherhood, to ask for the aid and intercession of the foster father of Jesus Christ, St. Joseph, who serves as a true model for every man.
The March 19 celebration will begin with the Rosary at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 9 a.m. The liturgy will conclude with the Litany of St. Joseph and the Prayer of Consecration, followed by a reception in the parish social hall. Prayer cards dedicated to the consecration of St. Joseph will be handed out to all in attendance.
