Bishops Kulick and Zubick to celebrate Mass at 100th Annual Slovak Day at Kennywood

PITTSBURGH – The Most Reverend Larry J. Kulick, Bishop of Greensburg and the Most Reverend David Zubick, DD, MSEd, Bishop of Pittsburgh, will celebrate a Slovak Liturgy at the 100th Annual Pennsylvania Slovak Day at Kennywood Park on July 20. The Bishops will celebrate Mass at 4:00 pm.
To commemorate the milestone anniversary of the gathering, the Western Pennsylvania Slovak Day Committee will host a “Meet and Greet and Birthday Celebration from 2-3 pm at the Main Stage ( behind the Old Mill at Kennywood Park Radovan Javorcik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the United States of America, and his wife will greet guests from 2 -3 pm.
The Embassy will provide information regarding travel, business and social life in Slovakia. Guests will be able to take a selfie with the Ambassador. During the Meet and Greet, guests will be entertained by “Sokyra,” a Carpatho-Rusyn/Slovak folk orchestra. Sokyra puts a modern twist on the rich folk music of Slovakia. The orchestra will provide a unique background for the festivities.
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary, there will be a Birthday cake and a special raffle with Slovak items and other surprises for all visitors to the Main Stage between 2-3 pm.
For 100 consecutive years the Slovaks of Western Pennsylvania have come together to celebrate Slovak Traditions, Family and Faith at Kennywood Park. It will be an exciting day for Americans of Slovak descent to celebrate with each other while enjoying colorful displays, authentic costumes, a Slovak liturgy, spectacular Slovak Dance performances, a sing-along, scrumptious Slovak food, special children’s activities as well as foot-tapping music for dancing.
