DeMarco announced as Assistant Principal at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School

GREENSBURG – GREENSBURG – Dr. Nancy Rottler, Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Greensburg, has announced Stefanie DeMarco as Assistant Principal at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School. DeMarco has more than 14 years of experience in secondary education as both a teacher and administrator at Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport, where she is currently a teacher and Assistant Principal.

“Mrs. DeMarco brings a tremendous amount of experience to GCC students and families,” said Dr. Rottler. “We are extremely confident that Mrs. DeMarco will bring her educational expertise to GCC and will work with teachers, staff and families to collaborate and support our strategic plan. We strive to develop students into intentional disciples of Christ through exemplary academics, faith education and leadership development.”

Theresa Szmed, principal at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior -Senior High School said she welcomes the experience that Demarco brings to GCC. “In adding an accomplished leader, administrator and teacher, we are very excited to welcome Mrs. DeMarco to the GCC family,” Szmed said. “Her commitment to excellence is a valuable addition to our school for our faculty, students and families.” DeMarco graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education specializing in chemistry and has a Master’s of Science Degree from Carlow University in Educational Leadership/High Performance Learning. DeMarco brings a wealth of teaching experience to the table, having taught a range of subjects including chemistry, core science, and math. Additionally, her involvement in helping implement a Material Science curriculum further showcases her commitment to STEM in schools. During her tenure at Serra Catholic High School, she also served as a Dean of Students, managing student affairs and fostering a positive learning environment.

“I am confident that my well-rounded approach will result in a positive school culture rooted in faith where teachers are supported through differentiated interventions and students are engaged in an inclusive learning environment,” DeMarco said. I look forward to sharing the knowledge I have gained through my experiences to cultivate an environment where students and staff feel challenged, supported, and valued,” DeMarco added.

DeMarco will begin her new position at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School on May 1, 2024.
