Rev. James M. Reposkey C.PP.S., 77, devoted 50 years to his service as Missionary of the Most Precious Blood, Atlantic Province

Rev. James M. Reposkey C.PP.S., who devoted 50 years to his service as Missionary of the Most Precious Blood, Atlantic Province, passed away peacefully, on April 9, 2024.

Fr. Jim was born on July 16, 1946 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Louis Reposkey and Julia Reposkey (nee Calabrese). He attended St. Francis Minor Seminary in Greensburg for his philosophical studies and later pursued theological studies at St. Bernard’s Seminary in Rochester, New York.

Following his ordination in the Greensburg Diocese on May 4, 1974, Fr. Jim served as an Associate Pastor at St. Roch’s Church, Toronto, and later became its Pastor. In 1992, he was assigned to St. Alphonsus Church, Toronto, where he served as Pastor. His final assignment as Pastor in 2016, was at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Toronto.

Fr. Jim was known for his compassionate heart and inability to refuse anyone in need. He served as a spiritual advisor for the Catholic Women’s League in the Central Toronto Region for many years, held memberships in the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 1388. He took immense pride in wearing the religious habit and missionary cross.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Louis G. Reposkey, Jr. sister-in-law Lillian A. Reposkey and nephew Louis J. Reposkey. He is survived by his niece Nadine Reposkey of Fairbank, PA and several cousins.

All are welcomed to attend Fr. Jim’s visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., Toronto, at Dufferin St.) on Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to take place following the Funeral Mass at Westminster Cemetery .
