: member and was first elected a member of the Archabbey Council of Seniors in 1989; served as elected delegate representing the Archabbey at several triennial General Chapters and served on the Abbot President’s Council of the American-Cassinese Congregation. Father John Pavlik, OFM, Cap. – 45 Years

Ordained: January, 1978

 

Faculty of St. Fidelis High School (1978-81), vicar of Our Lady of Peace, Conway, teacher at  Borromeo College Seminary of Ohio, Formation Staff at Capuchin College in Washington, DC, Director of Formation for the Province and on an Inter-Provincial Formation Council for all Capuchins in the United States. Elected to serve first on the advisory council for six years, then as Vicar Provincial for an additional six years, and finally as Provincial Minister for six years. In the last twelve years of Provincial Administration, Fr. John lived at St. Augustine Friary in Lawrenceville-Pittsburgh. While serving the Province, Father cooperated with six other Capuchin regional jurisdictions and acted in oversight for the “mission” in Papua New Guinea and for the small grouping of Capuchins in Puerto Rico. He traveled to India in search of Capuchins to assist in Papua New Guinea and in the United States. Father also participated in the Conference of Major Superiors of Men.           

For nearly eight years afterwards, Fr. Pavlik resided in Washington, DC, at a largely Latino parish and served as the Executive Director for the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, headquartered in Greenbelt [formerly Silver Spring], MD, an ecclesial conference created by the Holy See to ensure and facilitate communication and cooperation between the Vatican and religious institutes of men in the United States. Acted as a liaison with the USCCB in committees on priestly formation and in the Secretariate for the Protection of Children and Minors. In the national offices, Fr. John worked closely with the two similar conferences for Religious Women in the United States

Diocesan Appointments: Fr. Pavlik provided weekend sacramental ministry at the partner parishes of St. Joseph/Everson and St. John the Baptist/Scottdale and at the Catholic Parishes in New Kensington. He accepted an assignment to be part of the friary at St. Bernard of Clairvaux.
