Deacon Torres has been assigned to the Catholic Community of Connellsville and Dunbar. He is scheduled to be ordained a priest in the Diocese of Greensburg in June of 2024 by Bishop Kulick.
Tell us about your family.
My father, Antonio is an electrician. My mother, Lucia, is a caretaker. My brother, Joseph is an office worker. All of them live in Brazil.
Where did you get your undergraduate degree?
Pontifica Universidade Catolica de Campinas in Brazil.
Did you have a job prior to entering the seminary?
I am a journalist. I graduated in 2010 and worked for a few years as a journalist before entering seminary.
Tell us about some of your hobbies.
I love hiking, playing and singing, enjoying time with friends, reading and playing video games.
What is a typical day like for you?
I usually wake up at 6 a.m. and do my morning prayer. Then I go to Mass at 7:15 a.m. I am currently serving in the Yough Catholic Communities of Connellsville and Dunbar, which I enjoy.
What do you look forward to in becoming a priest?
Serving the people of God through my ministry.
Who would you say has been your biggest mentor throughout this process and why?
The first person who I remember talking to me about the priesthood. She was always praying for that. During my life, I have encountered many people who showed me the love of God.
